Materials for the Year

  1. Handwriting

  2. How to make the letters
This chart will assist parents in helping their children with their letters at home, showing exactly how the letters are made. Here are several samples of Mr. Walter’s Italic hand: 1, 2, and 3.

  3. How to hold the pencil
Here is a video on how to hold the pencil correctly. Watch carefully—no two fingers on the top!

My son Samuel shows how the copperplate hand is executed using flexible steel nibs. Samuel gave a class on the copperplate hand this summer. You may look at some samples of this hand, as well as an alphabet and several videos: a video of Samuel writing out John 3:16, a “Happy Birthday” video, a Bible verse (Jeremiah 17:7) and accompanying painting and a “Happy Thanksgiving” video.
